Romans 11:1-36 KJV
I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. [2] God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, [3] Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life. [4] But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. [5] Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. [6] And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. [7] What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded [8] (according as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
[9] And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, And a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them: [10] Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, And bow down their back alway.
[11] I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy. [12] Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
[13] For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office: [14] if by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them. [15] For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead? [16] For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
[17] And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree; [18] boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. [19] Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
[20] Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear: [21] for if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. [22] Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. [23] And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. [24] For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree?
[25] For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. [26] And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, And shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: [27] For this is my covenant unto them, When I shall take away their sins. [28] As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes. [29] For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. [30] For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief: [31] even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy. [32] For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all. [33] O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
[34] For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? [35] Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? [36] For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
Zechariah 4 King James Version
And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep, [2] and said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof: [3] and two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof. [4] So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord? [5] Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord. [6] Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts. [7] Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it. [8] Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, [9] The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. [10] For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth. [11] Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof? [12] And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves? [13] And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord. [14] Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
Psalm 18:1-50 KJV
[1] I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. [2] The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. [3] I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: So shall I be saved from mine enemies. [4] The sorrows of death compassed me, And the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. [5] The sorrows of hell compassed me about: The snares of death prevented me. [6] In my distress I called upon the LORD, And cried unto my God: He heard my voice out of his temple, And my cry came before him, even into his ears. [7] Then the earth shook and trembled; The foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. [8] There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, And fire out of his mouth devoured: Coals were kindled by it. [9] He bowed the heavens also, and came down: And darkness was under his feet. [10] And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: Yea, he did fly upon the wings of the wind. [11] He made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him Were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. [12] At the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, Hail stones and coals of fire. [13] The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; Hail stones and coals of fire. [14] Yea, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; And he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. [15] Then the channels of waters were seen, and the foundations of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, At the blast of the breath of thy nostrils. [16] He sent from above, he took me, He drew me out of many waters. [17] He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: For they were too strong for me. [18] They prevented me in the day of my calamity: But the LORD was my stay. [19] He brought me forth also into a large place; He delivered me, because he delighted in me. [20] The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; According to the cleanness of my hands hath he recompensed me. [21] For I have kept the ways of the LORD, And have not wickedly departed from my God. [22] For all his judgments were before me, And I did not put away his statutes from me. [23] I was also upright before him, And I kept myself from mine iniquity. [24] Therefore hath the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. [25] With the merciful thou wilt shew thyself merciful; With an upright man thou wilt shew thyself upright; [26] With the pure thou wilt shew thyself pure; And with the froward thou wilt shew thyself froward. [27] For thou wilt save the afflicted people; But wilt bring down high looks. [28] For thou wilt light my candle: The LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. [29] For by thee I have run through a troop; And by my God have I leaped over a wall. [30] As for God, his way is perfect: The word of the LORD is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in him. [31] For who is God save the LORD? Or who is a rock save our God? [32] It is God that girdeth me with strength, And maketh my way perfect. [33] He maketh my feet like hinds' feet, And setteth me upon my high places. [34] He teacheth my hands to war, So that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. [35] Thou hast also given me the shield of thy salvation: And thy right hand hath holden me up, and thy gentleness hath made me great. [36] Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, That my feet did not slip. [37] I have pursued mine enemies, and overtaken them: Neither did I turn again till they were consumed. [38] I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: They are fallen under my feet. [39] For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: Thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me. [40] Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies; That I might destroy them that hate me. [41] They cried, but there was none to save them: Even unto the LORD, but he answered them not. [42] Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind: I did cast them out as the dirt in the streets. [43] Thou hast delivered me from the strivings of the people; And thou hast made me the head of the heathen: A people whom I have not known shall serve me. [44] As soon as they hear of me, they shall obey me: The strangers shall submit themselves unto me. [45] The strangers shall fade away, And be afraid out of their close places. [46] The LORD liveth; and blessed be my rock; And let the God of my salvation be exalted. [47] It is God that avengeth me, And subdueth the people under me. [48] He delivereth me from mine enemies: Yea, thou liftest me up above those that rise up against me: Thou hast delivered me from the violent man. [49] Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, And sing praises unto thy name. [50] Great deliverance giveth he to his king; And sheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
