In 1 Peter 2:11, Peter says, “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul”.  In 1 John 2:16, the Bible says, “For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world”.  Sinful lust is an overpowering desire for that which God has forbidden. First John 2:15–16 mentions three types of lust that lead us into greater sin: “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.”  The lust of the eyes occurs when we see something visually that incites covetousness, jealousy, or sexual lust.
